I recommend EC New York because teachers and staff are really kind - I feel free to speak to them whenever I need to. I also made lot of friends here! We study English not only our grammar class and conversation class, but also through exciting elective classes. EC NY is located just on Times Square, it's a really convenient location.

Teacher Testimonial
My name is Cory Allen Starkes. I've been teaching at EC almost since the New York branch opened. I've found my experience here very rewarding because our students come with the desire and passion to improve, and at times, perfect their English fluency. I'm a tough teacher, I have to admit, because I believe our students' expectations are high. I personally consider each student's strengths and weaknesses and design my classes to suit their needs. I'm American, but I speak Spanish fluently because I moved to Spain and lived there for six years. I also studied German for three years and I speak a little Chinese. I understand the challenges of learning a foreign language and that is what gives me the drive and patience to teach English to foreign students. I've been teaching English to foreign students for seven years, 2011 being my eighth year, and really appreciate the good I'm doing when my students personally thank me at the end of their course here. I had a unusual welcome into the teaching community. I went to university for two years mastering in engineering, decided I didn't like it and changed my major to English Literature. Las Vegas may not sound like a place where you can get a great education on the history of English, but it is. My school had Dr. John Bowers, the world's second leading Chaucerian and head of the English department, and Claudia Keelan, a famous American poet. These professors taught me well and I constantly visited them during their office hours. They convinced me I had chosen a promising field by choosing English Literature as my major and my hard work paid off. I am UNLV alumni with a Bachelor's degree in English. I've also had 14 poems published in a Penn State magazine called Hubris. Basically, I love English and learning other languages, so my job is easy. If you want to learn English, I can teach you.

Student Testimonial
I looked for English language schools on the internet and saw the testimonials of former students from EC. It was also recommended from my agent in Denmark. Because my employer is paying for the trip, I wanted to go to a great school and EC seemed like the place. I chose Business English because I wanted to have a greater vocabulary that is useful for my job in Denmark including financial, political, and overall Business terminology. The course has been really beneficial. There are only four students in the classroom so we get a lot of one-on-one attention which helps with pronunciation and grammatical accuracy. I have enjoyed my teachers and they have been really inspiring. In the class we have learned about online business and newspaper topics which help me better understand American media and culture. An example iof this is the situation with the mosque being built by Ground Zero and the many issues it has provoked. We have discussed this topic in depth including the financial, geographical, and social aspects of this topic. This has been beneficial to a greater understanding of the cultural feelings that arise. We also have discussed start-up companies and the many problem s that take place during this current economic crisis. I really enjoy this school because it's in a great location in the heart of the city. It's clean and new and the people who work in the school are very kind and helpful. There are Also some excellent teachers who I have learned a great deal from. I would like to come back someday to EC but it might not be as intensive next time. I have enjoyed my time here very much and it has been great for me that there are no other Danish students here.

Teaching English at EC is exciting, challenging and different every day. The process of teaching and learning English is not always easy, but it is incredibly rewarding. There is nothing better than walking down the hallway of our school and overhearing students from opposite sides of the world conversing in English and using something they learned from my class! It is gratifying and inspirational to facilitate communication and learning. In such a global atmosphere, I learn as much as I teach every day at EC.

I chose New York because I had always wanted to live in one of the most inspiring and exciting cities in the world. The city is amazing not only for its famous landmarks, but also for its diversity, architecture, natural beauty and culture. You can find food, places and activities for all different tastes. Studying at EC New York couldn't be different. The teachers are amazing and funny, and their classes are very dynamic and stimulating. In these three months, I have improved my English skills more than I had expected. Also, I made some good friends from all over the world, and all the things that I’ve learned from them have been priceless. I recommend EC NY for those who want to learn English in this exciting city that never sleeps!

I love working at EC for a million reasons. First of all, the students. Meeting different people from all the over the world and helping them both establish and reach individual goals is more rewarding than words can convey. Besides the students, I love working with everyone at EC from Cape Town to Malta to the UK to the US! Everyone at this company has this amazing energy and enthusiasm that makes work, with all its challenges and obstacles, a great place to be! The teachers love what they do and it shows. We are extremely fortunate to have such a talented, friendly, and passionate faculty and staff who care so deeply about the students! EC NY is located in the heart of Times Square so when students arrive, they truly feel like they’ve just stepped into a scene from all those movies they’ve been watching their entire lives. There is so much to do and see in NY and our location makes it extremely convenient to get to all parts of this amazing city. Everyone should experience New York City at some point in their lives! I love nothing more than being surrounded by so many people: faculty, staff, and students on a daily basis with such different and fascinating backgrounds and lives. When you enter the building, it almost feels as if the school has a heartbeat of its own. Together, we listen, learn, laugh, teach, share, and work hard...what more could you ask for?

I love New York. It's my favorite city because it's a mix of a lot of cultures. I have also met many people from different countries, and I have become friends with them. It's amazing how different or similar our cultures are. I have even learned some words like, "Hello" in Japanese, Korean and French; it's so different, but it is really nice to know. I have always thought that the best way to learn a language is to go to the country where you can hear it every day. It's really a good practice and you learn very quickly! Why do I like EC? mmm...difficult to explain…Ok let’s see: EC is cool, nice, big and the teachers are very friendly and knowledgeable also. I think you can never get bored in classes. The classes are interesting and funny. You learn so much!

Does New York need any presentations? Central Park, the Fifth Avenue, Coney Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty can speak for themselves. Is there anyone who doesn't know what Times Square is? I don't think so... Why Times Square? Because the EC New York is located exactly there, in the heart of the Big Apple! Where New York shows that it's really the "city that never sleeps". Beside the amazing location, EC New York is a school where I've learnt how to speak better English and where I could meet a lot of great guys from all over the world. Moreover the teachers are very well prepared and during our classes we've talked about many interesting topics. If you have a necessity, Ena, Ross, Coleen and the whole staff will be ready and happy to help you. What else... For the city, for the activities, for the people, there's no better place than New York to have a great experience and to learn English, of course at the EC New York!

The ESL classroom is a rich, dynamic experience, and I constantly marvel at how the magic of New York City brings learning to a whole new level. Beyond the classroom, our EC students discover the array of opportunities here – exotic new dishes, exclusive museum tours, famous operas, and Broadway shows. Here they also uncover unique little treasures off the beaten path – small black box theaters, street and subway performances, and one-time lecture opportunities, among so many more. The Big Apple boasts a classroom like no other.

I like the school and the teachers. We are learning with fun. Every teacher is motivated.=) I think we learn a lot. It's a great city and you can do what ever you want. There is something for every taste. You can enjoy the nature in Central Park, you can go shopping, walk near the Hudson River, see a musical etc. I like the teachers because they are really motivated. You can have fun and learn at the same time. There are many students so you make friends. The classrooms are nice. I like my class. We learn a lot and we grade our pronunciation up. In the afternoon I like the business class and the Cambridge course. There are many places I like, for example the boats on the Hudson or the 230 on the 5th. My favourite EC Activity was going to the US open game! My accommodation was near school, Times Square, Empire State. I would come back to EC New York again.

I would recommend EC because the teachers are really good and sympathetic, the courses are taught in a fun and good way, the school is located in Times Square, there isn't a lot of people who speaks the same language (good mix of the cultures and countries). I like NY because it's full of beautiful places and there is always something to do. You're never bored in NY ! You can walk in Central Park, a few minutes later you can swim in the ocean of Brighton Beach and during the evening you can take a cocktail with your friends and some famous people on the roof of a high building! There is a good atmosphere in school; the way to learn is really good (sharing our knowledge, discussions about everything); The teachers are open-minded; If you need something, you always find somebody to help you or answer your question. I like my lessons because we've got a different topic every week. We can change our level, our afternoon class easily. The mix of the students is really good, you're not with a lot of people of your country or people that speak your language. East Village is my favorite place because there are many bars, clubs and restaurants and also a lot of students! East Village is a good place to meet students or young people that live in the U.S.

I definetly recommend EC New York because there are very expert teachers and I had very good time with them. The groups are small and the teacher can pay attention to you easily They have a different way to teach english that is funnier and quicker I like all the different activities that you can do just in a day. There are so many things to do! Times flies in New York! It seems that you won't have time to see all that the city can offer There are a lot of nationalities and you can meet people from all around the world at EC New York.

Having taught for 10 years in various ESL institutes in NYC and Seoul, I'd have to say that EC provides the most conducive classroom environment for the acquisition of learning English. The small classes and spacious classrooms at EC allow seating arrangements to be formed in circles and/or horseshoes as opposed to orderly rows.

The horseshoe and circular seating arrangements at EC lessen the barrier between teacher and students and the classroom becomes a more friendly place. There is much more opportunity for students to share meaningful information through speaking, eye contact, body language and gestures than in orderly rows.

Students who want to learn English must look for opportunities outside of the classroom to practice their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Students can read English newspapers, websites, magazines, subway ads and signs. They can write emails in English, speak with native English speakers in stores and restaurants and listen to people speaking English in cafes and on television. Fluency can be achieved more quickly by practicing the aforementioned skills in authentic/real world situations.

I really enjoy studying here! Honestly, I thought that classes wouldn't be so serious as they are. I planned to pay less attention on them and more on having fun and entertaining. But here I've changed my mind! Learning English is a pleasure for me. I do like the school, teachers, my group. All students are very intelligent, smart, and nice people. Time really flies here!

My host family is very kind and friendly. It takes not so much time to get to school from their house. Americans are so friendly. It was such a surprise for me!

I'm very glad that I'm here and can enjoy staying in such a lovely place!

A class is only as good as the students make it, which often takes hard work, dedication, and daring. It takes curiosity and boldness. Many EC New York students realize quickly: learning English is an experience as much cultural as it is linguistic; it is as much about making friends and meeting new people as it is studying grammar. I often see different personalities emerge from this realization; in a sense, students rediscover themselves while lost in traslation. This is a pleasure to witness.

I believe my role as a teacher depends on my ability to simplify so as to motivate; to clarify, so as to help students navigate the challenges of learning a new language as it is told from an American perspective. The Joy in teaching language come from the joy in engaging an international community with this rich-American heritage.

The best part of EC New York is its location, which stands at the center of one of the world's greatest cosmopolitans; it is an exciting as it is riped with stories, waiting to unfold for each one of EC Language's students. As an ESL teacher, having taught for two years, I try to equip students, to the best of my ability, with the language tools needed to share each one of their authentic New York and American experiences in a clear, comprehensible, and authentic manner.

I have been with EC New York for 5 months. I really recommend it because everyone is kind and I can make a lot of friends from different countries. I liked meeting people from different cultures and trying new things. The school is clean, quiet and comfortable and the staff are kind. On my course we had small groups so it was easy to make friends. After school I liked going to Korea Town and Little Italy. EC school is the best of the best.
