I believe EC San Diego is a very helpful school. The teachers are all very good. I had to return because I missed here so much. When I first arrived, I could not speak English at all. I am now in the advanced level class. The thing that I like most about the school is the staff. They are friendly and always willing to help. The school is also in the perfect location. My favourite thing to do in San Diego is hang out with my friends. I have met many local friends.

A friend of mine studied at EC one year ago. And she said me it was great. All people are so open and friendly in San Diego. It’s a great place to enjoy life and also learn English. My favourite memory is the activity program to a Baseball game. It was so fun. We went with a limo! My advice to new students is to be open and enjoy your time.

I love San Diego; I have been here for a while now and I know my way around pretty well. I like that the teachers here at EC San Diego have different teaching styles so I can learn different things from each teacher. The schools location is just perfect; I can go to the beach whenever I want and can look at the ocean from some of my classes.

I chose this course because in Switzerland the CAE is the main and most accepted certificate for job application. I need English every day in my job. The Cambridge Exam Preparation course as well as the documentation is well structured. The course books are specific for the Cambridge course and in each unit the relevant topics are taught. Studying in San Diego is great. The climate is very comfortable and the weather is mostly sunny. The possibility for sport freaks is unlimited. There are many places easily accessible by car and to go clubbing is also advisable. San Diego simply offers something for everybody. The main benefits about my EC experience are the improvements in English in all topics, although Cambridge could use a more natural English. In addition I met many people, got new friends and have visited a lot of new places. I hope also I can bring a little bit of the Californian easy way of life back home.

Because it’s on the sea, the weather is fabulous and it’s near a big city like San Diego, I wanted to lean about life in a surfing city and enjoy the California way of life. It is close to the beach and there is a spectacular view of the ocean. I like the familiar atmosphere. The staff is friendly and professional. After the school, I enjoy going surfing or just relaxing at the beach. San Diego is a city that offers numerous opportunities of activities from surfing, and waterskiing, golf and rollerblading. I enjoy being close to Mexico to experience and learn about Mexican culture.

I choose to study English in La Jolla because it has been recommended by my company and by friends. Furthermore, the online appearance left a great impression on me and I especially liked the fact that the school is directly located by the sea, what more do you want? My favorite thing about school is not just one. First of all, most of the teachers are really young but still very knowledgeable. That’s awesome, as it allows great cooperation and efficient learning. You cannot imagine how great that is! Second, the school is very well organized and the management is helpful. There is entertainment offered for students throughout the whole week, not to forget that the event manager is really nice and funny. That’s easy to tell you: California’s best spot is definitely PB (Pacific Beach). That’s the party area and the place where you get best value for money food and beverage in San Diego. The nightlife in PB is unbelievable as the student area is there and everybody is kind and friendly. Therefore, it’s easy to break the ice and get to know people. I enjoy this place every day and I still don’t get enough! Of course, I also love the beaches the surf, which is a big passion for me. I would recommend studying in San Diego because it is the best place to be spontaneous, which suits my life style being able to “play it by ear”, as it is from every American, I like that so much. I have already experienced both, going to school Downtown and in La Jolla as well, but there’s no doubt: La Jolla makes the race considering all aspects. It’s a tremendous difference. La Jolla itself is so nice and the place of the school is perfect!

Because I heard that La Jolla is good weather and it’s popular for Europe people, and Japanese is few. My favorite thing is to talk with friends and teacher on break time. My favorite thing is to go to the beach and to go sightseeing (Sea World, downtown, San Diego Zoo, etc). I recommend to stay with a family. Because they taught a lot of things to me (example, nice place, good restaurant, English, etc)

When I was finding the English school, my agency who is my uncle’s friend recommended it for me. But I had to decide the school myself. So I searched this school and I heard La Jolla was very good, beautiful place. There are little Korean compare with other school. They are good at English better than me. I always learn from them. And the teachers are very good. They try to give lots of things to us. I like everything except public transportation especially weather and the place. It is very good weather everyday in San Diego and there are many good place like a beach. The San Diego is very food place. It is very quiet and calm. Sometimes you can experience other cultures like Mexico. If you want a good time or experience I want to recommend you. To study English I think the teachers and friends are very important.

The people who work at EC are very kind and give me a familiar sensation. I am very lucky. The teachers explain in a good way to help me understand, and if I have some problems, I can ask. They make the classes interesting. San Diego is beautiful, relaxing, and the people are very kind. From San Diego you can go to San Francisco in one-and-a-half hours by plane. Los Angeles by car in two hours. Hawaii in 5 hours by plane. Las Vegas by plane in 1 hour. Plane tickets are cheap.

What I liked most about EC San Diego is that people are always friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed, but in a very positive way! There are always activities one can participate in. If I had a question, the staff did everything to answer it. I don’t have one particular favorite memory, but I will always remember skydiving, visiting the University of California San Diego, LA, Pacific Beach, etc... All in all, everything was great!

Having been teaching for 35 years and counting, I can honestly say that the thrill of being in the classroom is as fresh and vibrant as it has ever been. I am privileged to have chosen a vocation in which life-long learning is the cornerstone and the English language is the common thread. Each student brings a unique set of life experiences, interests and abilities to the group and together, these form the catalyst for a learning environment where the whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts. In addition to our wonderful students, I particularly enjoy working with the supportive teachers and staff here at EC San Diego, many of whom have been with us for years. We all share the Southern California spirit of 'sharing and caring' in our classes and beyond.

Hello, my name is Alvin Almerol. I am a local native of San Diego - born and raised, actually! I graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked for several esteemed tech companies in the mobile sector before becoming a teacher.

I am a native speaker with 4 years of teaching experience. Before coming to EC San Diego I received my TEFL certification in Buenos Aires, Argentina and taught Business English for many Argentine and International companies.

Aside from General English courses, I have successfully prepared students in test prep courses at EC San Diego. These include Cambridge ESOL exam prep and TOEFL exam prep courses. My students' successes in these classes have allowed them to further their personal and/or professional goals in their jobs or placement with American Universities.

The classes are very engaging and the school student-centered. You will be taught English in a variety of ways and at an appropriate pace for your level. The environment is energetic and most important…fun! I love what I do - learning English in San Diego is a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

My favorite spot in San Diego is La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove – You can snorkel or kayak among the indigenous species of the Pacific Ocean: Fish, Seals, Dolphins, Stingrays, and Sharks! And it's a 1-minute walk from school. Can't get better than that!

I chose San Diego as the city to study English, because it's a beautiful city. The weather is good, people are friendy, I'm really enjoying my life in here. I got a lot of memorable experience in San Diego, but the most one is in La Jolla cove where the school is located. I'll never forget this wonderful place. Now, I study in Intermediate class. Except the main class, we also have survival English and American culture class. It's very useful. I lived in a very nice host family. The host parent were really kind to me. Although I live alone now, I visit them every week. The school's loaction is perfect! Behind the school is an extraordinary cove. Sometimes I like have lunch there and enjoy the sunshine. The teachers in this school are very professional and helpful. We get alone very well. During the time in San Diego, I really can feel I've improved my English.

EC San Diego is a great place to study and I am happy that there are so many good teachers! My favorite memory from EC is the time I spent with the friends I made here. I would advise new students to always speak English with your friends from class and repeat the lessons from the teachers. That way, your pronunciation will improve!

I spent a great month here and want to say thank you! I like the school and the location the most. The class schedule was good and had a lot of flexibility. Being in southern California, it easy to also take weekend trips to Las Vegas, which was very fun. I would tell new students that San Diego is a great city and they are sure to love it here.

I found out about EC San Diego over the internet. I have been here for 6 months. The teachers are very good here at EC San Diego. There are a lot of activities to do and I particularly enjoyed the BBQ party that we had at the beach. We played beach volleyball, ate some good food and met other students. I also took the bus which was very easy to do after the school told me how to do it. My experience was awesome and I wish I could have more time to stay here. I am transferring to EC Boston where I will study for another 5 months then go back home.

Teacher Testimonial
Hi! My name is John Kim. I’m originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, but I’ve been living here in San Diego, California since 2003. I am proud and honored to have been involved with public service for over 20 years and I am now just as proud and honored to be involved with the international group of students who come to EC to experience a full immersion English course in San Diego.

I teach Business and Academic English courses at EC San Diego. I want my classes to be as fun and interactive as possible. I love creating a buzz in class with cool vocabulary activities and conversation exercises. I also teach the Free Conversation courses offered on Tuesdays and Fridays! I like to use everything I have learned from all my life experiences to create interesting, challenging, and fun lessons for my students.

Before I started teaching, I worked in various military and diplomatic positions worldwide for over 24 years. During that time I studied and taught leadership, language, business, and management courses abroad. Because of this I have experienced life in multiple foreign countries, and found like I love learning about other cultures and languages, especially about how other languages differ from English.

I would like to say that teaching English here at EC gives me the opportunity to share and deliver an educational experience in mind and heart that produces outstanding global citizens as a end result. I would like for all my students who learn English in San Diego to leave EC with a sense that they are a citizen of the world, and that learning English is key to finding their success in life.

Even though I was here for less than one month, I have learnt and done a lot. My level of English is now upper intermediate. I definitely feel like my speaking skills have improved and I know this will help me when I go back home to my job.

The best part about learning English here at EC San Diego is all the speaking that we did during the class and the activities organized by EC. I got a chance to visit Las Vegas and Grand Canyon. Locally I went to Balboa Park, Coronado, Gaslamp and the beaches. Everything is so beautiful here and everyone is so helpful, not only at school but also on the bus and everywhere you go. I really would love to stay for more time in order to visit San Francisco, Los Angeles and other places in the USA but unfortunately I have to go back to my job.

I was at EC San Diego for almost one year studying the Academic Year course. I got to know students and the staff is friendly. I am going to miss them. I enjoyed getting to meet other foreign students and be able to practice my English with them. The most exciting thing that I did while at EC San Diego was playing soccer. I enjoy watching the game and also playing it. It was also fun when we had a barbeque at the beach and we got to play different games including soccer and get to eat some nice food.

For new students, I would suggest that they make a lot of friends and since we are so close to the beach, please take advantage of it and go there. After EC I will apply for a new job as a hotel clerk or teacher to keep practicing my English.

I'm a California girl who loves to wander, but after roaming the earth, I'm always glad to come back to San Diego! When I'm not teaching I'm likely in the ocean, hanging out with my cat, or finding new ways to make my students love learning English. I attended UCSD and have taught children and adults of all levels of English. I have worked with students from over 25 countries, and have loved every minute of it!

Learning tips: Have a positive attitude! You will make mistakes, that's inevitable. So just embrace it and realize that's what school is for - we will help you become confident in your abilities. The more you put into class, the more you will get out of it. Ask questions, participate, and speak English during your whole stay in San Diego!

My classes are like me! Interesting, dynamic, and a little bit crazy. I get bored easily, so I want to make sure you keep your enthusiasm high and attention focused. We activate the language you learn through role plays, interactive vocabulary quizzes, scavenger hunts and more. You'll remember the language you use far longer than the language you hear!

I have been studying the Cambridge course and will go back home to start working at a bank. The best part about learning English at EC San Diego is the close distance to the beach, for doing homework of course! I also liked the great destinations to go to over the weekend like Los Angeles and San Francisco. I was excited to learn surfing and also go skydiving. A tip I would give to new students is to enjoy the lovely San Diego weather as much as you can. It’s great!

I’m from the San Diego area, went to college in the LA area and got a degree in Sociology. My family is from Mexico City and from the US, so I speak Spanish and English. I’ve travelled to 7 countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. I like to read, play volleyball, and play guitar.

I’ve been in the education field for 4 years and in ESL for 2. My classes are a safe space to learn and laugh and meet new friends along the way.

Learning tips: Pace yourself when you’re learning English. Try to keep a balanced lifestyle. These might help to keep you on track and from getting discouraged by your progress-everyone learns English at a different pace. Be patient with yourself, but don’t neglect English. Go to the free opportunities offered by EC and talk to Americans.

I really liked it here because the mood was very good. There was also a lot to do and the staff was friendly. The best part about learning English here at EC San Diego was the friends I made and the fact that you can improve your English skills and have fun at the same time.

Here in San Diego there is a lot to do like go to clubs, house parties, but the most exciting thing I did was take a trip to San Francisco with my friends. The city is beautiful but cold. There is also the paintball activity that I participated in. Teachers Jerrod and Cosmo were our paintball captains and it was awesome!

I would suggest to new students not to be afraid to do some activities with the teachers. After EC I am going back to Switzerland where I am going to work in a marketing company as a manager. Thank you EC.
