I am studying Academic English in EC London. I chose this course to improve my speaking skills and to be prepared for studying for a Masters degree in UK. My purpose is to obtain higher education through EC school. Why I’m learning English in the same institute is because the teachers are very experienced and they fit my expectations such as teaching in a good method. The benefits of this course are many for example you can see the differences between students’ accents which means you are learning to listen to international spoken English.

My Japanese agency recommended EC. Other students in Japan also recommended it. I like studying in London. I like the old buildings and you can go to a museum as you like. You can enjoy pubs and cafes. I like the organic food – you can try lots of countries’ food even if you don’t like fish and chips! Of course, the teachers are very nice, it’s very important. The course book is good but I prefer it when teacher closes the book and talks about life.

I’ve been here for 6 months, and I’ve really enjoyed this time. The teachers and the staff (reception) are always here for you, to help you speak with you. They are all nice and super motivated. I began in Pre-Intermediate 6 months ago and now I’m in Upper-Intermediate, so everyone can do whatever they can and want. If you want to really improve your English, the best way is to speak with every person with who you can speak English with. You can have a book and all the materials that you want but the best way to learn perfectly are the teachers. I’ve had a really good experience during these 6 months, I don’t want to leave…but all good stories have an end.

Here it is a warm and friendly environment. In my free time I like to visit museums, parks, cinemas, theatres - these kind of places are good. I would recommend EC because of the friendly environment. Here, I can meet people from around the world. The school also has a good schedule for having fun outside of the school classes. The staff here are friendly and helpful also.

I like the fact that if I have a problem, I can explain what I have to say in Spanish as this is then good for my English. I would like to visit the whole city! I have seen Big Ben and London Bridge. It is a good place to learn English. This is most important.

I have been at EC London for two weeks. I would recommend EC London because I like the people who work in this school. They are friendly, organised and patient. I like London because the streets are very clean peaceful, unlike Rome, which is a very crazy city! I like the transport system, especially the underground - it is fast and there are many stops. I like the main EC building because there is a cafe inside. There are many rooms and one for studying. I enjoyed walking down the streets of central London, the buildings, the shops, the parks, the people, the general atmosphere, it\'s all very \'liberating\'. Of course I will return to EC but would like a new experience in another centre, maybe San Diego or New york!

I first chose EC London because it is accredited by the British Council, but I keep coming back because of the quality of teaching, friendly atmosphere and great social programme. I remember my first time at the school and how the staff (teachers, coordinators, and secretaries) made me feel totally at ease. Beginning like this helped me improve my English step by step, surrounded by students from all over the world. I have come to EC London 15 times, and this school has helped me in every way to reach a proficient level of English.

I choose EC London because of its location. I only stayed for a week, but my short stay helped me practise my speaking and I also learnt a lot of vocabulary. My favourite activity was the “English for Work” class.

I think that EC’s method of teaching is very effective and I really enjoyed my course.

I love working at EC because of the diversity of the people: the students, the teachers, the staff, the suppliers, the agents. Every day presents new challenges and I constantly find myself amazed by the solutions and innovations presented by any one of the people involved. It really is a team effort and we work together to make a difference and to be the best we can. Happy students and teachers are what really make it for me and pride in my work and who I work with makes it feel less like work and more like an ever-evolving project aimed at helping people become the best they can; the best users of English, the best teachers, the best English language school. Feeling part of that buzz, that professionalism, that common goal, makes working with EC an Exceptional Career choice.

Teaching English is great! I can honestly say it changed my life. I used to work in finance, but when I was 25 I decided I wanted to see the world. The best way for me to pay the bills was to teach English, and I loved it so much that it has become my full-time job. I have learnt so much from people in this job – especially from my students. I talk to my friends and family about my job, and they always say how lucky I am to be able to make friends with people from all over the world, to work in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, where people learn and exchange ideas, and to do it all in the most cosmopolitan city in the world – London! And you know what? They’re right! My other passion in life is music – listening to it, playing it, recording it. I’m always on the look out for new talent to do some gigs with, so if you play or sing, let me know.

For me teaching is one of the most fulfilling careers. I love the fact that every day is completely different, with new challenges, students and experiences. I'm passionate about what I do and even though it’s my job to teach, I feel that I too am learning something new every day.

Soon after I finished my teaching courses I got a job working at EC Malta. Working there was fantastic, the atmosphere in the school was very positive and being able to finish a day’s work and go to the beach for a few hours was an extra bonus! However, after a few years I decided I would give up the great weather to see some of the world and decided to move to London. At first it was an overwhelming experience but I soon learnt the London way. Now I can honestly say that I love the pace of life here, the excitement of living in a busy city and even the changeable weather! For anyone coming to London, my advice is to make the most of any opportunities to meet new people and do different things. Teaching with EC is brilliant. It’s a vast business with teachers and students from all walks of life. Nothing beats knowing that each day at work is going to be different, with new challenges and the chance to meet new people.

EC is an enjoyable environment in which to work due to the high standards set by the administrators and the teachers, yet it is also one where a relaxed and entertaining approach can be used. As London is such a chaotic and hectic city, this unique type of school makes the challenges which one faces seem more surmountable. When these challenges are met is when I most feel like Anthony from Texas!

I'm teaching English for a variety of reasons including the opportunities to interact with people from all different countries and to learn new things everyday. I have only recently moved to London and I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know this city. There is so much to do and see - it's never boring! I particularly enjoy being a teacher at EC because it is such a professional school which maintains a high standard at all times.

I have lived in London my whole life and I have always loved the diversity of cultures, languages and people – especially since me and most of my friends have mixed origins. Teaching English gives me the opportunity to help others develop and progress in their education or career. It also means that people from all over the world are able to communicate and share their thoughts with people from all over the world. At the same time it gives me the chance to learn about other countries and cultures through the students! EC London is in a fantastic location, in the heart of London and next to one of the trendiest shopping areas too – Covent Garden. The staff are friendly, the students are fun and together it makes EC London a great place to work.

I have been teaching English for over 8 years, and everyday has been different, new challenges, new faces, new experiences. I have learnt and continue to learn about world cultures, languages, and people, and the English language itself, which is changing all the time. Teaching a language is never just about the language, though, but about the people who are learning the language, as we all learn in different ways. Living in London is like living in the centre of the world, people say there is at least one person from every country in the world living here, thousands of languages spoken, and a huge mix of cultures. I love the fact that I can be walking down what I think is a familiar street, then look up and notice a building, a sign, a view, a street, something I have never noticed before. Working at EC gives me the opportunity to work with some amazing people, the staff and teachers here love what they do, and as a result there is always a positive atmosphere. People are willing to help, to listen, and most of all, to make good quality cups of tea... What makes me tick? Difficult question. So many things, but if I had to choose one, I would have to say the most important thing for me is spending time with my fiancée. After that, I like music, playing football, watching football, cooking, photography, writing, playing guitar, films, walking, travel, Huddersfield Town Football Club and studying Japanese.

It is very satisfying to see people improving and gaining in confidence with their use of English. Having previously worked in other countries where the students were predominantly one nationality, I find teaching mixed nationality classes very dynamic and interesting. As a teacher here you learn a lot about many different countries and cultures. London itself is fascinating. London contains a multitude of neighbourhoods, towns and villages, each with their history and character. It is a vibrant and energetic place to work. The school is always trying to work out how to improve and is generally quite forward thinking. As a teacher I feel this helps me develop my skills and become better at my job.

I enjoy watching the progress that students make and appreciating how this will help them to achieve their learning goals. What I love about London is feeling that I have my finger on the pulse of the world in South Africa, we rarely have international celebrities that come for Premieres, or famous artists that exhibit their work. In London, this is all normal! I love teaching at EC because I have fantastic colleagues and students, and there is a professional yet relaxed atmosphere.

EC London is quite simply the best TEFL/TESOL language school I have taught at. Why? Because it has a sound professional and practical basis which provides members of staff and students with a challenging yet protective place of work. I was born in London and have returned to my roots! I enjoy teaching English, first, because I believe the language has a part to play in communication world-wide and, secondly, because I love the rhythm, cadences and vast vocabulary of the language.

I enjoy teaching English as it is a very rewarding job – especially when you can explain something that helps your students understand the grammar. I love London as there is so much to do and see in the city – whatever you like to do you can be certain to find it here in London, as well as a few unexpected surprises! The teachers and staff at EC English are all very friendly and the students come from all over the world so you get a mixture of nationalities and cultures coming together in the classroom. As a typical Englishman, I try to be polite and courteous at all times and I like it when people do the same. I always teach the importance of please and thank you in my classes.

EC London England

Teacher Testimonial
I enjoy teaching English because no two weeks are the same - new students arrive almost every week and classroom dynamics are in a state of flux, so there is always that element of surprise at the start of each week. At the same time, students are more or less in the same boat, in a foreign country, and therefore make friends fast! What really warms my heart is observing how my students become such good friends with one another, and taking a genuine interest in one anothers lives, despite great native language and cultural differences. Politicians can learn a thing or two from students in the classroom! Furthermore, I enjoy living in London because it is a truly cosmopolitan city - a "mini-world" within a very definite space. The city constantly organises/hosts festivals, exhibitions, parades, and so on - something for everyone! Couple that with the variety of theatre plays and musicals showing at any given time, as well as the various open-air markets set up around the city, and you've got a truly interesting city to explore and discover! Why I enjoy working at EC London: While all teachers are native speakers of English, everybody comes from different corners of the globe - everybody is a minority in London, including British people themselves! We've got a teacher(s) from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the US, Malta... We've all got entirely different stories and life experiences to share, making the EC London Teacher's room a highly motivating and entertaining (!) place to be in. We all have contrasting personalities, yet everybody seems to get along perfectly well. My favourite classroom memory: One time, when giving a weekly one-on-one tutorial to one of my students, I asked the student if he is happy to be in this class. The student's response was, "I don't want to leave. This class is like my second family!" Brought a tear to my eye.

My name is Lilian. I'm from Brazil. I have been living in England for longer than 7 years. I have been teaching for about 4 years in EC London but I had previously taught in other schools in Italy and in Brazil. I love teaching English to international students because I feel like I travel to different countries every day, and I love travelling!

Working at EC is more than only having a job, it’s like having a second family. The environment is great, the staff are helpful and you never get bored as every day is a different day! I have successfully taught children, teenagers and adults in monolingual and in mixed nationality classes. At EC I had the chance to work in different departments as well as teaching. I had worked with Customer Service, in our lovely reception in EC London, and in the Admission office in EC Malta. I had also worked twice at our Junior school during the summer as a teacher and lately as the Academic Coordinator. Recently I have been teaching and organising the social programme at EC London. I absolutely love my job!

A good tip for language learning success is to have a vocabulary book to record new words, as it is really easy to forget them. Try to have a small one that you can fit in your bag so you can carry it everywhere! Also access our website, facebook page or our blog, and make the most of it.

My name is Daphne. I come from Ireland but I have been living in London for the past two years. I have worked at EC London since I moved to London and it is one of the reasons why I am still here. I completed my MA in TESOL in 2010. After completing my MA, I worked in language schools in Ireland, teaching young learners. Then, I moved to Sydney, where I began teaching adult learners. I moved to London in 2011 and began working at EC London. Here, I have gained experience teaching a variety of classes, including Cambridge Exam classes, IELTS and TOEFL.

My classes are as fun and interactive as possible. As I am currently teaching IELTS, which can be very stressful for many learners, I try to ensure that there is balance in the class. My favourite spot in London is Hampstead Heath. Having grown up in the countryside, walks in Hampstead Heath are one of the best ways for me to relax and escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

I have been teaching English for almost ten years and have been organising exam courses since 2007. I am especially interested in the Cambridge Exams and enjoy teaching them as they push students to use a wide variety of language. I love teaching English as it is a different challenge every day and as well as my love for the language I get to meet many fascinating people. This allows me to learn from them and I believe in the classroom being a place for the exchange of ideas.

My biggest tip to all students, but especially to those studying for an exam would be, keep a separate note book to record all new vocabulary in. Organise it in a way that works best for you and regularly review it and try to use the new words as frequently as possible. Remember too that mistakes are fine; they are part of the learning process.
