I’ve studied at the Toronto school for three months. The school has an attractive study environment, and I’ve met many interesting people from many different countries. The staff is really helpful and very patient; the teachers are well educated and experienced. I won’t forget my time at here.

I've studied in Canada for over one year in total. I think the school has really good methods. You improve everything, your speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. Teachers are great. They find ways to motivate us. They are all open minded and use very creative activities that help you learn. The discipline at the school makes us responsible, more independent and we learn that there are consequences to our actions. I am very happy with my experience. I now speak fluently, and understand English perfectly.

I heard EC is a big famous academy in Canada. Before I came here, I found the school Internet site and saw their courses. That is why I chose EC. For me, it is a very nice school. First of all, it has lots of programs such as General English course, TOEIC, etc. So I can choose what I want to study. This school also has a lot of entertainment services. Through TNT tours, I went to NYC and it was nice. The teachers in this school are nice and kind, and they explain what I want to know clearly. That’s why I like this school. Especially I like the policy that we have to speak English only. At first I thought that it is very restrictive but as time goes by, I recognize that it is a very useful and helpful policy.

Toronto is a great city to learn and practices English. I was at EC for a long time and I can say that is a pretty good school. I improved lots and I’m so happy about it. The staff is very nice and helpful. I met a lot of people from around the world and that was amazing. I liked the EC activities. My favorite activates were Niagara Falls and Hockey games. Canada had been one of my best experiences in my life. I will never forget my time at EC.

I've studied for 6 months at EC Toronto. Since day one I was warmly welcomed for everybody. The school's atmosphere, the friends that I made there only contribute to my certain that it was the best 6 months of my life. During this time I've had 5 different teachers who helped me a lot with my English in the all aspects (thank you Peter, Patrick, Liz, Michael and Tom). I've also had a tutor due to the fact I was enrolled in the academic year program. This tutor who, by the way, is an amazing person (Sari) provided me a priceless help to overcome my weaknesses. Last but not the least, I wanna thank the whole staff (especially Elizabeth) that assisted me with forms, documents, visa and so on. I miss you guys!

After 6 months studying English at EC I was able to understand all the grammar and listen and speak the language as well. When I applied for a regular Canadian job, like a clothes store and coffee shops I never thought that they would give me the opportunity to work for not being a Canadian citizen. But then I received a call from the place that I worked for during 6 months to set up an interview. That was more than a surprise for me. I was excited and scared because maybe they would speak with me and I wouldn’t understand anything. Fortunately, the opposite happened, I was totally surprised at how good my English had gotten and how my business classes helped me. Starting with the staff that helped me a lot creating my resumé. At my job I was treated like a Canadian, and I didn´t have any problems with prejudice. As I was the first employee to be hired after the long winter and the store was renovated, I had the opportunity to hire other employees and train them as well. The manager was too busy with the other store and she gave me all the information I needed in order to fulfill my job and help her, so in the end I became her assistant. I did everything that I could to help the store and I was promoted to assistant manager. I never thought that I would have this type experience in my Co-op program. I got along with all the staff and the managers as well. If you are responsible and hard working they will always treat you in the manner that you should be treated.

My best friends from Canada are actually Canadians. It’s weird how it sounds but usually international students they don't have real contact with Canadians, only with students from other countries. After one month that I'm back to Brazil we still keep in touch via Skype. And they are planning to come visit me here in Sao Paulo. My experience in Canada with EC was the best that I was expecting. And when you enjoy the moment it does go really fast.

If you stand on the corner of Eglinton and Yonge Streets in Toronto, you can smell the sausages cooking in the vendors’ carts, feel the energy of the city and hear languages from every continent in the world. I came back to Canada after ten years of teaching and learning overseas to find a lot had changed. Toronto is a great place to live and work if you enjoy living at the crossroads of so many different cultures and activities.

I’ve always considered myself lucky to have found a career in Language teaching. It has afforded me the opportunity to visit places I never thought I would see and work with some really amazing people. After several years in Taiwan, Korea and Mainland China I was a bit apprehensive about returning to Canada. I needn’t have been because I found a home here at EC Toronto where I get to work with people who are committed to teaching and also to each other as only dedicated professionals can be.

The opportunity to empower people by giving them the knowledge they need to go on in their lives to greater achievements is satisfying and fulfilling. Meeting people from different countries and cultures has been an eye-opening experience and I believe this cosmopolitan atmosphere encourages understanding and cooperation even after students return to their homes.

All in all the people , the surroundings and the great energy here in Toronto make it an ideal place for people from around the world to meet and grow together.

Language has always been a personal passion of mine and now I have the pleasure of sharing that passion with students from all over the world. I myself am trilingual and have lived abroad for over 10 years so I have a deep appreciation for the advantages that come with knowing an additional language and I try and use that personal experience to enlighten my students.

I can't tell you how amazing it is to be a part of helping a student acquire new language skills knowing that those skills will open doors and improve their overall communication skills.

The work environment is one that encourages me to be at my best and I feel a genuine camaraderie with my colleagues. We work together as a team to enhance the learning atmosphere for the students, sharing concepts, ideas and teaching techniques.

After graduating from university, I had a strong desire to travel and learn about other cultures. Teaching English gave me that opportunity and I spent two life-changing years in Korea. Moving to Toronto was, initially, a temporary situation – finish CELTA and head back abroad. I quickly realized it would not be so easy to leave this beautiful city. During the last year, many students have expressed similar sentiments.

Toronto is one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world; riding the subway in the morning is a testament to that, and provides a small glimpse beyond the borders and colours of a world map. There is always something to stimulate the eyes or provoke thought: the view from the CN Tower gives one a unique view of urban sprawl, while the graffiti scattered throughout downtown highlights the importance of art in the city.

EC Toronto is unique in that strong relationships form among teachers and students, and the student-centered approach makes lessons interactive and enjoyable. The friends, laughs, and experiences are bound to leave indelible marks.
