Hi! I am Laila from Denmark. The school in Montreal is situated just in the heart of Montreal. My experience here in this multicultural city has been very good. Being able to speak English and French whenever preferable is a great opportunity to everyone. The levels at the school make you advance quickly and before you know it, you’ll be speaking fluently!

I’ve been having a wonderful time. The lessons are instructive, the teachers are skilled and my fellow students are great fun to be with! The overall relaxed atmosphere at school generates a good environment to improve your English. Despite having a full day program on a daily basis, I luckily still got time to explore the vibrant city. Besides, you don’t have to sightsee alone as the school provides a monthly activities program for the students. In whole, my stay has been an inspiring experience!!

I choose this destination becuase I love Montreal. It isn’t my first time here. I hope to improve my English and I think it’s possible. I believe that my English is better than one week ago. I like my teachers and the social activities. The activity coordinators, Emmanuel and Andrea, are fantastic. In the class we have good conversations with the teachers and the other guys. In general, people in the school are very friendly! My new friends are from Venezuela, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil and Mexico. I’m happy to stay here!

EC did a great job in placing me in the right level. The lessons were great and I learned a lot especially in understanding grammar better. The accommodation was just right as it was in the middle of the centre and within walking distance of the school.

I chose this city because it is bilingual and EC Montreal seemed to have a good structure for students. I confirmed my expectations upon arrival. Just a month later I can say that they are teaching me real French, spoken worldwide. I'll always remember the kindness and personal contact EC Montreal have with the students.

Montreal is an excellent city for learning English. It’s a multicultural city with a wonderful night life! You can improve your English because you “live” English all the time. There are a lot of students from different countries. It's very interesting to have friends with another nationalities.

I choose Montreal because I wanted to study French and here I was possible to do so and still practice my English. I've learnt a lot since I started in the school. I can now communicate in the streets; ask for help and directions and that's is something that I couldn't do before. EC helped me a lot since the first day I got here, everyone was really nice, polite and the teachers were awesome. I will always remember that EC saved my stayed here and have given me this amazing opportunity. With the activities that we have at the school I meet people from Colombia, Japan, US, Korea and also Brazil. Finally, I would like to thanks the school for everything and for everyone's kindness.

I have really appreciated to study at EC Montreal. The staff is always helpful, teachers are effective and therefore, I'm improving my English. Besides Montreal, we also got to visit other places because the school organizes tours and visits to other cities in Canada and USA such as, Toronto, New York, Ottawa, Boston and Quebec City. The school also offers students the opportunity to work as a volunteer at some local charities, for instance, at the Yellow Door.

I came to Montreal 8 months ago and I can say it was the best thing I ever did. One of the reasons that made me stay so long was certainly the school! The teachers and all the staff welcomed me and always made me feel good. Here I had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and principally, people who I consider great friends.

This bilingual city is ideal for those who want to improve English and French and be always in touch with different cultures. I totally recommend it! Montreal is an amazing city. I will definitely never forget this exchange and I hope to return again.

Thanks EC Montreal for all the support and patience!

I've studied in EC Montreal for a month, and truly, the only part of this experience that bothers me, is that it ends. I have no regrets about choosing to come to Montreal, to Canada and mainly to EC. The school is the best, not only when it comes to learning, but also when it comes to meeting people and having fun. It provides lots of opportunities to make you feel as part of a group. There are lots of different activities. You're always partying, doing sports, studying, visiting interesting places, etc. You're just never bored. Also, I'm truly in love with Canada. With it's respectful and always helpful people. With it's safety. With it's overall appeal.

I'd recommend EC for everyone, and I couldn't be more sincere.

Teaching is also learning about other people, sharing unforgettable moments and interesting experiences. I am delighted to be part of this wonderful team of teachers at EC Montreal. The opportunity to work with students of different ages and cultures is, for me, a source of personal and professional enrichment.

As a teacher, I believe that supporting students in their learning is both an honor and a true pleasure. I like to help students seek, explore, build, and find their way through the language. I experience a lot of satisfaction when I see the students transformed by this process. It is a rewarding journey because it encourages them to go further while, at the same time, encouraging personal reflection .

My choice to teach at EC Montreal is based on the wealth of opportunities and experiences that Montreal has to offer. Montreal has a rich history. Students can enjoy Montreal’s network of Nature Museums, visit Old Montreal and other interesting and colorful places, and experience the harmonious co-existence of the old and the modern.

At EC Montreal, students will have many opportunities to soak up the local culture and enjoy the festive atmosphere that characterizes this multicultural city: The Montreal High Lights Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, hockey (the Montreal Canadiens!) are only a few examples of the multitude of experiences EC Montreal has to offer its students.

Hi, my name is Don. I’ve been teaching at LSC/EC Montreal for twelve years. I’m also fifty-eight years old. So you could say I’m a senior teacher in more ways than another.

I changed careers in my mid-forties and went back to school to do a one year TESL certificate program. It was one of the best decisions of my life!

Teaching at LSC/ EC Montreal has given me the opportunity to meet many wonderful students from all over the world. This has been a very rewarding experience and has allowed me to learn as much about diverse cultures, thus broadening my mind, and enriching my knowledge.

I’ve also been fortunate to meet and work with amazing colleagues and staff. The years have flown by and I’ve even outlasted most of the furniture and several renovations. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to the next twelve years!

Hi, my name is Daniela Sandru and I have been teaching English for more than 10 years for all age groups in the public and private system and I appreciate every minute of it. I have a BA in English Language and Literature and a MA in Comparative Literature.

The things that have always inspired me are travels, literature, music, nature, and last but not least, people, and I feel they all shape my teaching philosophy and personality. I am interested as well in interacting with people from different backgrounds and cultures and this is exactly why teaching at EC is great, the world reunites under one roof and I am lucky to be part of it. My background has helped me develop my abilities to communicate with students easily and teach them how to use the language in meaningful contexts based on real life situations.

I find the experience at EC enriching and unique because I am surrounded by an enthusiastic staff, dynamic, motivated and creative students. At the same time, seeing students improve their language skills and being confident when using English as a second language is really rewarding. I would conclude by saying that I am a passionate teacher who uses effective ways to stimulate and facilitate all learning styles.

Teaching at EC Montreal is a truly wonderful experience that I consider myself very lucky to have! The atmosphere, opportunities, and experiences promised are really what are delivered here. The excitement both students and staff alike, have to be a part of something like EC is very apparent! Being a language teacher in a city as culturally diverse as Montreal is amazing! Every day in class I’m able to learn more about our world and the people who live in it. Not many opportunities can offer you that!

I believe it takes a special kind of person to move to a new country to learn a new language. It’s an honour for me to help those inspiring people along on their journey, especially doing so in a city I love! For me, being in a great place with great people is always my goal; I’m fortunate enough to have found that at EC Montreal. I hope you will too!

What is my philosophy of teaching? Passing on the moral, intellectual and spiritual wisdom I have in order to help people cope with their daily needs and become better human beings. In terms of English, I like familiarizing the students with the language and culture so they can better handle the challenges of everyday life in society as well as enjoy socializing for fun and for the pleasure of learning more good things about the linguistic and cultural nature of English. Moreover, English is a tool that can help everyone communicate not only with native speakers, but also with people from other countries, thus allowing them to learn about different cultures.

In terms of my personal life, I am a thinker and philosopher as well as a very generous and patient person; I like helping people. My hobbies are going for a walk, running, playing soccer and guitar. I also like languages; I speak Spanish, English, Italian and French.

My name is Ehsan. I have been teaching English since I graduated from university in 2005, when I went to Japan. I lived there for three years, and taught in Toronto and Montreal after.

I started teaching the IELTS Test preparation in Toronto at first, and I have been teaching this course since I moved to Montreal in 2011. It's a wonderful challenge to help students to achieve their goals in English, and to see them go on to study in universities and colleges. Furthermore, I really enjoy travelling and meeting people from all over the world, so I enjoy teaching here at EC.

I can stay here, but feel like I'm traveling the world.

My name is Maria Elena Garcia and I am super excited about being part of the EC Montreal teaching team. I was born in Quito, Ecuador a beautiful city in the middle of the Andes mountains and I moved to Montreal this past August.

I have always been interested in languages and cultures and my first study abroad experience was when I received a full scholarship to attend a higher-education institution in the United States. I completed a double major degree in Communication Leadership and International Relations and a couple years later a Masters in Management. Immediately after college, I started working for a financial consulting firm and taught ESL classes as a volunteer in my community. I lived and worked in the USA for a total of ten and a half years.

My passion for travelling and my experience tutoring languages to foreigners inspired me to make a career change back in 2010. I traveled to Ecuador to complete a Certificate of English Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and taught general English and IELTS preparation courses at a large university there for three years. I also was part of the academic support staff at the university where I developed exams and assessed students’ speaking skills.

What I love about teaching is being able to help students experience all aspects of the language and prepare them for real life situations where they can interact with confidence. Through teaching, I have seen students reach their professional and personal goals and that is priceless!

Why Montreal you might ask? Well, I had always been intrigued as to what teaching and living in a French-speaking city would be like, so I decided to immigrate to Canada. I moved to Montreal three weeks ago and I am enjoying every minute of it. I look forward to meeting people from different cultures and participating in festivals and art-related activities in this wonderful city. I speak Spanish, English, and French and I am into eating healthy, growing spiritually, art, travelling, learning languages, fashion, and of course, salsa dancing!

After graduating from University, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Through my time teaching in Toronto, I discovered that I had a passion for teaching English. I love teaching English because I am able to communicate with students from all over the world, and am able to learn new things about different cultures. I am always thinking of new and creative activities for my lessons, and I strive to make the classroom a fun and enriching environment.

I have recently moved to Montreal, and I am looking forward to exploring this beautiful city. Living in Montreal has given me the opportunity to meet new people, and have new experiences. I look forward to exploring the vintage shops in Mont Royal, walking around in old Montreal and going to the many festivals Montreal has to offer.

Seated at the heart of my passion for teaching is an insatiable desire to learn. By sharing the knowledge I have, I am constantly gaining insight into myself, others, and the world around me. From high-rise office buildings to prisons & detention centres (and the classrooms and community centre basements that fit in between); from the backyards and alleys of my own culture into the living rooms and salons of those from all over the world - teaching has served as a vehicle consistently transporting and shaping my experience into ever-growing realms of understanding and awareness. The world is a classroom and Life is the teacher furnishing us with what we can share with each other.

Teacher Testimonial
Greetings... My name is Souha Ayed and I love teaching. I was born and raised in the beautiful Tunisia. I am an ESL/EFL teacher and I hold a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and a BA in English Language and Education. My experience includes delivering intensive English programmes to groups of both adolescents from different linguistic backgrounds and adults of different fields of the labour market, tutoring children and adolescents in need of reinforcement with their school work, and helping foreign students improve their writing for academic purposes.

For the past thirteen years, I have taught intermediate and advanced English courses, as well as creative writing and conversation workshops. In addition to class instruction, I have been responsible for searching and adapting material for pedagogical purposes. At present, I am working in EC, teaching English to small classes made up of mostly foreign students.

My philosophy for learning is that each student is unique, and each student learns in a different way. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help students discover their individuality and work alongside them to maximize their potential. I believe learning creatively, and learning though projects. It is my goal to create a community of learners who are committed to working hard and having fun. I want students to leave my classroom feeling confident that they can apply what they’ve learned in school to real-life situations. I want my students to feel challenged and to have an enhanced passion for learning.

My name is Melissa and I’m excited to join the EC Montreal’s teaching team. I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, and have lived and worked both in Toronto and Hong Kong, teaching English. I strive to create a positive, peaceful, and warm environment in my classroom, so that students feel free to learn.

One of my favourite things about working in a place like EC Montreal is the variety of people that I get to meet as a teacher, and I love getting to hear people’s stories and see how learning to communicate plays a role in their lives! In my free time, I like to watch movies and read – I especially enjoy scouring used book stores for good finds! I also love music – I play guitar and piano, and sing, and I absolutely love going to see live music.

I’m looking forward to meeting lots of students and helping them share their stories, gifts, and experiences with the world.
