Antonina recommends the Language School Genki Japanese and Culture School Fukuoka (Genki JACS).

Everything was almost perfect for me.
The school is located near Hakata station, which is both a major transport hub and a huge shopping mall, where you can find everything you need. This fact made my life much easier at the beggining.
The school's most important characteristics are flexibility and efficiency. It offers a range of language and cultural programs and various accommodation options, so everybody can choose something convenient. Language course can be changed if desired.
In school, there are students of different ages, which in my case (I'm 30) was great, I felt comfortable. About efficiency, I was impressed. My goal was a language practice and in four weeks only I started to talk at my level.
The teachers are motivating, tactful and supportive. I kept warm memories about them.
The trueth is I want to come in GenkiJacs again.

rudi.bertels@gmail.com recommends the Language School Genki Japanese and Culture School Fukuoka (Genki JACS).

I am what they call at Genki JACS (and in Japan in general) “a repeater”. It simpele means I have come back at Genki JACS. And why? I just feel so much at ease here. Last year I came for the first time at the recommendation of a young fellow Japanese language student in Belgium, and she proved herself right. The teachers are competent, friendly, pay attention to your individual needs and ... without exception have a humorous twitch. In fact I must extend this flattery to the office staff as well. And guess what, I saw many repeaters this year at Genki JACS, which made it at times a happy reunion.
Before I decided to come, I had some hesitation because I am, let us say, at the upper level of the age scale. It is true that there are more young students at Genki JACS, but to their credit, and not in the least because Genki JACS truly creates an all-inclusive atmosphere, they make you blend in easily.
This text has been written in English, because my Japanese is net yet proficient enough to reflect all these thoughts and opinions. But don’t be mistaken : Genki JACS will encourage students at any possible occasion to communicatie in Japanese, so you will not be locked into English (or any other language) during breaks or events organized by the school outside class. You will get what you are here for : learn Japanese!
Join me next year and make yourself a “repeater” too, and while you’re here, don’t forget to discover the gems of Fukuoka and Kyuushuu which are not hidden very well.

AndyChum recommends the Language School Genki Japanese and Culture School Fukuoka (Genki JACS).

It was my second time to study in Genki. it lasted for 6 weeks from May to June. This time I studied in Genki for the preparation for the JLPT N3, and the teachers are very helpful for providing lots of tips to get through the exam. And the cost of staying in the dorm is not expensive, and I enjoy my stay in the dorm and it is easy to make friends from other language schools. However, Genki school is not the one which really can help students to get through JLPT N2 or N1 because their targeted students are mainly beginners. If you wanna study hard and pass the exam for working in Japan in future, you better choose a school with lots of JLPT exam practice and that will better equip you with enough skills to deal with the exam. One more thing, the amount of Homework is not enough.

City
Fukuoka is a very nice city, it’s big but very relaxed, compared to other cities in Japan. There’s lots of places to eat! And many small places to you can visit (really hidden) so explore if your here for long!
School
Inside is very clean and class rooms
The school is in a fantastic location, very close to central station. So on Friday you can just go after class and travel for the weekend!
Staff
The office staff are really helpful if you have any problems they will help, even helping you pick a restaurant to eat in! The teachers are super nice, they mostly speak to you in Japanese, to encourage you not to speak in your native language
Accommodation
Great, places. If any problems, the school can help!

AndyChum_87 recommends the Language School Genki Japanese and Culture School Fukuoka (Genki JACS).

Genki school is just 5 mins walk from hakata station, which is quite convenient to get access to good food, and other stuff you want to buy. The teachers are kind, and professional, and I am sure that you can learn a lot from them. Classmates of different countries were super nice, and I did enjoy the time with them, and the experience of studying in Genki has become one of my best memories in my life.

I’m really happy to tell you that I went twice to the Genkijacs School (first time for 2 weeks and second time for 3 weeks). I plan to go back to this school for 5 more months in 2016.

It was for me a wonderful experience.

The teachers were skillful, kind and patient. The lessons were interesting, varied and well organized.

The school is not to small, not to big. The atmosphere is so cool, relax and friendly. You can find free tea, coffee and wifi in the lounge but also a Wii U to play Mariokart together between 2 lessons ! All is made to feel good.

It is located near the Hakata station, the biggest station in Fukuoka, so it is easy to access anywhere you live.

I just regret my stay was no longer. It was intense and unforgettable. I look forward coming back really soon !

Wonderful experience. Learned a lot and had fun. Had a variety of teachers, and all of them were excellent. The classes were interesting and the material was very relevant for everyday life in Japan. Our homestay family was also wonderful - very welcoming and we enjoyed spending time with them. Fukuoka is a great city — it’s very easy to get around, not as expensive as Tokyo and a great gateway to the rest of Kyushu. Would highly recommend GenkiJACS.

Genki JACS was an amazing experience! I was extraordinarily worried about adjusting and being comfortable in class because of my limited Japanese knowledge, but I had no problems.

I went to the school in Fukuoka, which had a great location - just a 5 minute walk from Hakata Station. Fukuoka itself is an awesome place to be! It’s not overwhelming to navigate and there is plenty to do and eat.

Classes were a lot of fun; all the teachers were knowledgeable and organized helpful class exercises that really helped me practice speaking (which is hard to do at home). Teachers were also fun to talk to about other topics; what to do in Fukuoka, what our weekends were like, etc. All the students were very nice and the class camaraderie was great. My class had many teenagers in it that sometimes caused the class to become a little chaotic, but most of the teachers were able to keep it under control. The traditional culture class I took was also really fun and educational.

I would definitely recommend Genki JACS Fukuoka to anyone who is motivated to study Japanese! I had a great experience and wish I could have stayed longer than the three short weeks I was there.

My time at GenkiJACS was nothing other than amazing. I think the best thing about this school is it’s atmosphere. It is so welcoming and friendly, it was so easy to make friends, even for someone as shy as I am! Second, the teachers are equally as amazing. They are so kind and helpful, you don’t feel anxiety but rather a yearning to learn because the class is so fun, and the teachers really make it so. Third, there are so many great activities scheduled after classes such as a temple or shrine tour and tea ceremony, and they were great. The only thing is the price was a bit expensive (works out to about $35 per tour). For accommodation, I did homestay. I was a bit nervous in the beginning because I’ve never done one before, but I am so glad that I did. My homestay lady was so welcoming, she made me feel right at home. I can say that I was well taken care of! Thank you GenkiJACS! My only regret is that my stay was so short, so next time I’ll have to stay longer :)

Martin Varga recommends the Language School Genki Japanese and Culture School Fukuoka (Genki JACS).

When I joined GenkiJACS, I knew only three or four phrases and I could read and write kana. In six months I learned so much that I can now have conversation with native Japanese speakers. Even when I don’t know a word, it can be explained to me in Japanese.

I am greatful for the GenkiJACS experience. The teachers were great and the staff supports students in every way possible. Everything went smooth for me since I first started talking to the school representative. They cover a lot, but the lessons are fun most of the time.

I joined the school in April and next three months were great. However the school got very crowded in summer due to summer holidays all over the world. Classes were great when there were just 3-4 students, but got a bit difficult when there were 7 or even 8. The classrooms are tiny and the lack of fresh air doesn’t help neither.

It is possible to join GenkiJACS with any level of Japanese at any time. They give you a test to judge your ability and then put you in the correct class. This isn’t neither good or bad. It makes it easy to join the school but it often creates classes with people of different ability.

To summarize my experience, I’d say that I would pick GenkiJACS again, but I would avoid studying in summer.
